Hugh Watson – Naturalist at Large

A lifelong naturalist who has taken early retirement after a career in wildlife research, nature conservation and ecological consultancy.  A thoroughly amphibious ecologist, I began my professional career studying coastal otters and have wide interests in terrestrial, freshwater, marine and aerial environments.

Now that I no longer have to earn a living I am relishing the freedom to wander, wonder and frolic in the meadows of my own curiosity.  Sometimes I just sit there quietly.  Current interests include ecological restoration, rewilding and upland livestock farming –  but I’m easily distracted!  Now having to come to terms with Motor Neuron Disease.
